If you're here, presumably you already know a little bit about me. My name is Speck. I like to talk! Social media, by and large, has become an environment where kneejerk reactions, bad faith reads, and combative phrasing are normalized. For day to day, silly little interactions, that's palatable; when it comes to more complex conversations, whether serious or just with myself or about things I like, the environment is... not helpful. Or good for my mental health. I'm certainly guilty of partaking in it (not helped by my own personal issues). For my own sanity, I'd like to try something a little slower and quieter.

Furthermore, something like Twitter is just garbage for any long form content (duh). Tumblr would be fine if something like media discourse didn't become a shitshow tirefire immediately (for some reason more quickly and aggressively than Twitter in some cases). So here we are! Enjoy your stay.
